Jayme Dills
with Pro Ryan Roberts
My name is Jayme Dills, and I am excited to be participating in Dancing Stars to support Helping Hands Ending Hunger. I am returning as part of the “Best of the Best” category after previously participating in 2019. I live in Ringgold with my husband, Reed, and our two children, Addi (17) and Sam (14). I graduated from Ringgold High School, the State University of West Georgia, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and Tennessee Tech University. This is my second year as Assistant Principal at Tiger Creek Elementary School in Catoosa County, and I have spent a total of 22 years in education. In my free time, I enjoy attending the various activities our children are involved in. I also love to travel, read, and cheer for my Georgia Bulldogs!
Every day, I meet children who come from families facing food insecurity. For many of them, school is the only place where they can have a nourishing meal. It’s crucial that a child's basic needs are met before they can truly learn. No child should ever have to bear the weight of uncertainty about where their next meal will come from.
At Tiger Creek Elementary, we are grateful to participate in the inspiring “Kids Helping Kids” program through Helping Hands Ending Hunger. Each day, our dedicated student leaders gather surplus food from the cafeteria—things like milk, yogurt, fruit, and prepackaged snacks. This food is carefully cleaned and stored, and by the end of the week, it is given to students and families in need to help them through the weekend. This initiative not only supports families struggling with food insecurity, but it also empowers our students to witness the positive impact they can have on their community.
As a school administrator, my foremost responsibility is to ensure that our students’ basic needs are fulfilled and to help them grow into productive members of society. This program embodies both of these aspirations. Alarmingly, research indicates that 1 in 5 children face food insecurity. Together with Helping Hands Ending Hunger, we are committed to ensuring that no child walking through the doors of our school has to worry about where their next meal will come from over the weekend.
This mission is deeply personal to me, and this is why I am reaching out for your support. Whether it’s a single $1.00 vote or a $20,000 sponsorship, every contribution makes a difference in helping families access the food they need. Thank you for considering to be a part of this vital cause.
